How Feeling Your Feelings Helps You Make More Sales

You likely already know that your mindset is important to making sales, growing revenue, and increasing profit. But the fact is that most of the mindset advice in the sales world doesn't actually help you change and grow.

Here’s what I’ve learned through my own journey: mindset starts with your body.

If your nervous system is in fight-or-flight, if you’re holding unresolved trauma or emotionally triggered, then your thoughts are distorted. You can’t think clearly, see opportunities, change and grow quickly, or make decisions.

That’s why feeling your feelings is one of the most powerful things you can do to increase your sales.

Now, this might sound super woo-woo to you, and maybe like something that doesn’t apply to YOU. But think about it: most of us have a lot of ‘lower case t’ trauma and warped stories around money, sales, rejection, and people. It’s one of the reasons why people don’t pick up the phone — because they’ve decided that asking for money is uncomfortable, or that they’re not deserving.

And if you’re not processing those stories through your body, you simply won’t be able to resolve your sales issues — and create the healing, change, and growth required to have the result and life you desire.

Feelings Drive Everything, Including Sales

Human beings are emotional creatures.

Our bodies have feelings. Those feelings drive our thoughts, our actions, and ultimately, our results. And, in turn, our thoughts create our feelings. It's a loop that’s trapped inside your body. Meaning the body is going to keep you stuck in subconscious stories and distorted feelings.

When you’re caught in fear, shame, overwhelm, or self-doubt, those emotions color your perception of the world. You start creating from a distortion, not from truth.

Most of us have never been taught to feel our feelings. We were taught to suppress, bypass, escape, or numb them with overworking, talk therapy, exercise, alcohol, or sex. But your body doesn’t forget. The past stays present until it is processed.

If you’ve ever struggled with procrastination, people-pleasing, anxiety, overworking, or just plain not making sales, there’s likely an emotional root (belief and story) underneath that hasn’t been metabolized. It’s not that you’re lazy, unmotivated, or bad at business. It’s that your nervous system is trying to protect you.

You Can’t Sell from Survival Mode

Sales is a vulnerable act. It activates everything, including money stories, fear of rejection, and feeling unworthy or not good enough. It brings up old wounds.

And when you’re in a triggered state, your body confuses sales with danger. It doesn’t matter how good your offer is or how many calls you do. If your energy is off, it won’t land.

Buyers feel it. You’ll sound pushy or needy, even if your words are “perfect.” You’ll show up with get energy, instead of give energy. You’ll be trying to unconsciously get your emotional needs met through a sales call — and that’s not your client’s job.

Even worse, you’ll resist taking the actions that would actually move your business forward. You’ll sabotage, procrastinate, or numb out because your body is signaling danger.

Feeling Your Feelings Is a Sales Strategy

When I started working with my coach, one of the first things we focused on was emotional processing. If I was emotionally triggered, we didn’t talk strategy. We worked with the emotion first. Because if you’re in a state of emotional distortion, you can’t see the truth clearly—and you can’t create from a place of alignment.

Later, I began working with Brian Lumb and exploring Genius Frequency elemental embodiment: a breath- and body-based modality that helps you move trauma through the body. It’s not talk therapy or mindset work. It’s an energetic, emotional, and physical process that helps you metabolize old stories and align to the truth of who you are (i.e. remember who the hell you actually are).

What I’ve found is that every time I fully feel my feelings, something shifts instantly—and my results shift with it. It feels like magic, but it’s just the nervous system doing what it was built to do: return to safety.

Let’s Break It Down

Trauma, according to experts, is anything that is too much, too soon, or too fast for the brain to process. It creates a kind of emotional traffic jam that gets stored in the body until it is metabolized, affecting your behavior, your choices, your confidence — and yes, your sales.

This isn’t just about “big T” trauma. It’s the everyday, undigested experiences we all carry: being told you were too much, a moment of shame, or a time you failed and internalized it as proof that you were unlovable or not good enough.

If you’re not creating the results you want in your business, there’s likely a trauma pattern or emotional block in your body that’s keeping you stuck.

Why Mindset Alone Doesn’t Work

I tell my clients: what you think affects how you feel, which affects the actions you take. And those actions create your results.

But here’s the deeper truth: how you feel also determines what you think.

If your nervous system is dysregulated, your thoughts will loop in fear, scarcity, or shame. If you try to change your thoughts without addressing the emotions underneath, you’ll just keep spinning.

This is why mindset work often fails — because the body doesn’t feel safe enough to believe a new story. Before you can access a powerful mindset, you need to feel the emotion that’s underneath the old one.

What It Looks Like in Practice

Feeling your feelings isn’t just a nice idea. It’s a skill set.

It means:

  • Making space every day to notice what’s present in your body.

  • Learning the language of emotions (shoutout to Brené Brown’s Atlas of the Heart) so you can name what you’re feeling without judgment.

  • Using breath, body awareness, and sometimes guided support to move that energy through you.

I recently finished my training to become a Genius Frequency facilitator, because this work has been that powerful in my own life and business. It combines breath work, energy work, and touch to help your body process what your mind can’t.

Genius Frequency is like a “feel your feelings” short cut. It’s the most powerful way to quickly reconfigure and metabolize the trauma and distortions in your body and build the required alignment to change, grow, and quickly realize your desires.

Sales Is an Emotional Game

If you're a CEO and you want to grow your business, you have to do the inner work. You can’t build sustainable success from a foundation of anxiety, stress, avoidance, or self-rejection.

The good news? You don’t have to.

Your body knows how to feel. Your nervous system knows how to return to safety. And from safety, you can create anything.

Sales doesn’t have to be about pressure or performance. It can be about truth, service, and aligned action. But only if you’re willing to go to the root. And the root is always in the body.

Ready to Shift?

The bottom line is: if you’re having trouble making sales in your business, at the root it’s not a strategy problem. It’s not your funnel or your niche or using the wrong CRM.

It’s your body.

And that’s actually great news—because it means you can change it. Not by hustling harder, but by coming home to yourself.

Because the more you feel your feelings, the more aligned your energy becomes. And when you’re aligned, sales flow.

Note: I’m not a psychologist or medical professional. I’m sharing from my lived experience, my training as a certified Genius Frequency facilitator, and the results I’ve seen with my clients. This is what’s worked for me—and I believe it can work for you, too.
